The peak conditions are expected this afternoon with the North Sound observation station in Nome reporting the surge of around 9 feet as of 2:45 PM CT. The combination of high seas and high tide is resulting in major coastal flooding in Nome. Strong winds are also resulting in power outages and wind damage across the region.
