Conifer High School has been set up as the first evacuation shelter and the Mile High Chapter of the American Red Cross was sending volunteers to the school. An additional evacuation center was set up at Chatfield High School in southwest Denver. Wind gusts nearing 70mph have been recorded at measuring sites near the fire.
