North Chicago, IL Metro Area High Winds Damage – 2/24/2019

Jesse Walters and Tammy King of JWSevereWeather and Storm Chasing Video document a damaged van from a canopy failure, ComEd crews working to repair downed lines, and flags from McHenry County College as they take on wind gusts up to 60 mph. A High Wind Warning was in effect from the National Weather Service Office in Chicago/Romeoville as a strong low pressure system departed the region.

Shot Description
Shots 1-4 – Canopy failure from high winds at the Wauconda Car Wash & Detail Center. A van parked underneath was damaged by the incident resulting in a broken rear window and cosmetic damage to the exterior.

Shots 5-8 – ComEd crews struggle to repair lines that were downed by a tree limb south of McHenry, Illinois on Crystal Lake Avenue.

Shots 9-10 – Flags whipped in confirmed 60 mph wind gusts at McHenry County College in Crystal Lake, Illinois.
