Augusta, WI Truck Recovery From Thin Ice – 1/15/2019

This video package shows a truck that broke through the ice on Eau Claire lake, along with the recovery of the truck.
With the warm temps we have been having here across Western Wisconsin. This has caused some areas on the lakes to have thin and weak ice.The truck went through on early Saturday morning of January 12, 2019. The recovery took place on Tuesday the January 15, 2019. This truck dropped through thin ice on a sand bar on the Northeast side of the Eau Claire Lake. There is a current that runs through that area. This also helped to keep the ice in that area thinner than the rest of the lake. The water is shallow were the truck went in. 10 to 20 feet either way it would have been in around 10 feet of water.
