Lightning Strike Burns Down Frat House In Norman, OK – 5/8/2020

A lightning strike is the cause of a frat house fire that started in the attic of the Delta Tau Delta building on the University of Oklahoma campus early Friday morning, May 8, 2020. The fire started around 2 AM Friday morning and was the second fire to occur in the area due to lightning. Mutual aid had to be called in from neighboring districts of Moore and Little Axe fire departments to help battle this fire. Fire crews were still on scene as if Noon on Friday working on hot spots.

No injuries were reported and the building was thankfully empty. The back section of the building is reported to be fine, but the front half is a total loss.
