Heavy Snow impacting Holiday Travels, Marion, IL – 12/23/2017

The first snow of the season for southern IL came two days before Christmas as many travelers hit the road across the region. Snow came on the backside of a system that moved in late Friday and brought record rains to parts of the area. Nearby Paducah, Kentucky broke a daily rainfall record on Friday with over 2-inches of rain. Snow moved in early Saturday morning and left behind a quick inch, up to 2, making for hazardous driving for those hitting the roads. Snow cleared out before 10am, and more snow showers are expected on Christmas Eve. Marion is located approximately 2 hours southeast of St. Louis and is 3 hours from both Memphis an Nashville, TN.
