Wilson, KS Interstate 70 Whiteout Snow Travel Nightmare – 1/12/2019

As the monster winter storm cleared Kansas, strong winds gusting to near 40mph on the backside of the system caused near ground-blizzard conditions along I-70 between Russell and Salina in central Kansas. Numerous vehicles slid off the interstate due to the winds and slippery conditions as visibility dropped to near zero at times.
Shot Description

Scene 1: A van crashed into the ditch off I-70 and tow trucks on scene to help get him out as blowing snow reduces visibility.

Scene 2-7: Various shots of tow truck driver hooking up the van and puling it free of the ditch on the eastbound side of I-70.

Scene 8-9: Car that crashed into the median with a two truck on scene.

Scene 10-11: Abandoned vehicle turned backwards on the eastbound side of I-70 sitting in drifting and blowing snow.
