Multiple rounds of strong to severe storms hammered portions of southern Illinois on Thursday, including this afternoon round that mowed across the region and leaving scattered damage and street flooding in the town of Benton. Several reports of large tree limbs being downed in high winds along with several lightning strikes were documented. Also, nearly 1-inch of rain fell in less than 45 minutes leading to some minor street flooding in town.
