11/15/2010 Video of the day, “Gales of November”

Ever wonder what it is like out on the Great Lakes this time of year? With the term "Gales Of November" immortalized in the Gordon Lightfoot song about the Edmund Fitzgerald, vision of hurricane force winds and huge waves come to mind.

My friend and BNVN Weather Paparazzi, Captain Eric Treece of the SS Wilfred Sykes sent in this video last night that he shot from 60 Miles NE of Chicago, IL on Lake Michigan. The footage shows waves breaking and shooting skyward against the bow of the boat SS Wilfred Sykes. Footage of waves crashing, spray washing against the pilothouse window, American Flag whipping in the wind.

This looks like one wild ride but Eric assured me they were fine but he wanted to show how what the public considers "A Lake" can actually become a violent inland sea this time of year.
