A large multi-agency emergency response remained active throughout Tuesday afternoon, July 14, 2026, in the 300 block of Maple Island Road in Burnsville, Minnesota, after a mental health-related incident involving an individual with a weapon escalated into a house fire. The incident began around 6:30 a.m., prompting a significant police response before firefighters were called after smoke was reported coming from the home. A localized shelter-in-place was issued for nearby residents, and natural gas service was temporarily shut off as a precaution. Police and fire agencies from Dakota, Scott, Carver, and Hennepin counties responded to the scene. The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities continue to ask the public to avoid the area while the active scene is managed.
