Strong storms moved across southern IL early Thursday afternoon on the heels of strong overnight storms that dumped a couple inches of rain across the region. This afternoon storm dumped over half an inch of rain in about 30 minutes. The storms left behind some street flooding in the town of Herrin, near Marion, which is about 2 hours southeast of St. Louis.
