Lewis, KS Night Time Tornado and Damage – 5/17/2019

Nighttime tornado hit the town of Lewis northeast of Dodge City. The tornado was part of a family of tornadoes from a monster long-track supercell that produced multiple tornadoes from Oklahoma into central Kansas. Damage in town included large trees and powerlines blocking roads, windows blown out of houses, and minor structural damage to homes and businesses. The tornado also flipped a semi over on the east side of town, The twister touched down right over Lewis and moved northeast.
Shot Description

Nighttime damage footage opens with the blown over semi truck with emergency crews on the east side of Lewis. Driver status unknown, but truck was flipped and windshield was smashed in.

Footage follows with damage to homes, including a roof in a yard, garage collapse on vehicles, and other minor structural damage. More damage includes large trees blocking roads and on top of cars. Damage portion of video wraps up with people walking around surveying damage.
