Wet weather impacting farm planting – 5/25/2017

Corn and soybean planting has been delayed this year by cold and wet weather. In some areas in Nebraska, Iowa, Kansas and Missouri 5 to 10 inches of rain have caused lowland flooding. Farmers have replanted their fields several times at great cost. Planting a short season crop will have a smaller yield at harvest time. Early planting was hit by frost and cold conditions. In these conditions, the corn and beans will fail to germinate. The video includes farmers planting both crops, loading seed into the planters, growing corn in flooding, rain and storm clouds. Two interviews with farmers, the second is a 4th generation seed corn dealer who also farms.
