Southern, IL Heavy Snow Falling – 2/8/2017

For only the third time this winter season, parts of southern Illinois saw snow, and this coming less than 24 hours after most of the region saw temperatures in the 70s, many of which broke record highs dating back as far as 1925. This nearly 50-degree drop in temperatures started with strong storms on Tuesday and wrapped up with a brief burst of heavy snow on Wednesday afternoon. While no measurable accumulations were reported, a dusting of snow did coat some grassy and other surfaces. This is a taste of things to come for people in northeast who will experience similar temperature drops over a 24-hour period.

Video package shot in southern Illinois in the town of Christopher, which is about an hour and a half southeast of St. Louis.
