Lake Enhancement Winter Storm Warning hits Chicago, IL – 1/31/2021

On day two of a winter storm system in the Chicago Metropolitan Area, snowfall rates declined to a light pace outside of some lake enhanced snow bands allowing for roads to be cleared. However some slick spots remained and parking lots had not been fully cleared out as the Rosemont Police Department found out the hard way.
Shot Description

Shot 1 – Multi-vehicle spinout with Illinois State Police on scene as the drivers await a tow truck to be pulled out.

Shots 2-3 – Rosemont Police officers and Rosemont Public Works working to free a police vehicle from the family restaurant parking lot at Mannheim and Higgins in Rosemont, Illinois.

Shots 4-5 – Chicago Skyline shrouded by lake enhanced snowfall.

Shot 6 – Navy Pier’s Ferris Wheel during lake enhanced snowfall.

Shots 7-9 – Soldier Field during lake enhanced snowfall.

Shots 10-13 – Crews clearing snow from sidewalks on Ontario at Lake Shore Drive.

Shots 14-16 – Clips of blowing/drifting snow, waterfowl, and an obscured skyline from Northerly Island in Chicago.

Shots 17-18 – Shedd Aquarium during lake enhanced snowfall in Chicago.

Shot 19 – Adler Planetarium during lake enhanced snowfall in Chicago.

Shots 20-25 – Clips of inbound jets navigating strong winds and moderate snowfall rates at O’Hare International Airport in Chicago.
