Winter storm hits Saline County, KS Ice Covered Roads And Wrecks – 12/15/2019

The first half of a major winter storm slammed parts of central Kansas on Sunday, dumping as much as 9 inches of snow in areas and leading to dozens of crashes across the region. At least one fatality occurred in a morning wreck in Wichita due to freezing rain which accumulated over a tenth of an inch before noon.

More snow is expected to move in overnight with additional snow expected to accumulate across south-central Kansas, including the Greater Wichita area.
Shot Description

PART 1 (NEWTON, KANSAS – HARVEY COUNTY)

Scene 1-6: Shots of a single-vehicle rollover crash in the median of I-135 at Newton. Three occupants were in the vehicle when it hit an icy bridge and lost control, flipping on its side. Amazingly, all three people walked away from the crash uninjured.

PART 2 (NEAR BRIDGEPORT, KS – SALINE COUNTY)

Scene 7: POV driving shot passing a semi that slid off I-135.

Scene 8-11: A cattle truck stuck in snow on the south side of the town of Bridgeport. It eventually took two tractors to pull out the truck.

Scene 9-10: Shots from an overpass of a red pickup truck that slid way off I-135. A state trooper on scene walks from the truck to his patrol SUV.

Scene 11-12: Oncoming snowplow clearing snow off K-4 at Bridgeport, Kansas.

Scene 13: A brown pickup truck blasting through 9-inches of unplowed snow in Bridgeport.

Scene 14: Oncoming grey pickup truck driving through falling snow in Bridgeport.

Scene 15: POV driving shot as snow falls on I-135 with traffic oncoming in the southbound lanes.

Scene 16-18: Shots looking down from the Bridgeport overpass of traffic driving on snow-covered I-135.

PART 3 (NEAR MOUNDRIDGE, KS – MCPHERSON COUNTY)

Scene 19-22: Nighttime, sedan that spun into median of I-135 near Moundridge with driver attempting to dig the car out of the snow.
