Colby, KS Severe Storm Flood and Damage – 8/13/2019

Severe storms erupted across the High Plains on Tuesday with tornadoes, huge hail, and damaging winds exceeding 70-80mph. Storms fired in eastern Colorado and moved into northwest Kansas where they congealed into a line and moved across the state through the evening into the overnight hours.
Shot Description

Scenes 1-4: Establishing shots early on the storms with wall clouds, a funnel, and shelf clouds.

Scenes 5-9: Shots of torrential rain and wind as the storms hit Colby. The ASOS station measured a 59mph and 63mph wind gusts with these storms.

Scene 10: Shot of downtown intersection with traffic lights off as ppower went out in town.

Scene 11-12: Top of a large tree that was knocked down and blocking a road in town.

Scene 13-17: Various shots of traffic driving through street flooding in town.
