A line of severe storms moved across southern Kansas and northern Oklahoma through the overnight hours Thursday morning, moving into Wichita around 2am bringing high winds and torrential rains. Over an inch and a half of rain fell in the city in less than 30 minutes as this line moved through. Wind gusts estimated over 70mph were reported with the line before it moved into Wichita, where winds gusted to near 60mph in the city.
Heavy rains flooded numerous streets across the city, many took hours to recede. Some roads were impassable for a short time until the water levels fell.
