The massive storm that dumped copious amounts of ice and sleet across southern Illinois came at it with it’s third punch, heavy snow. After sunrise, sleet finally changed over to snow and it came down heavy, reducing visibility to less than 1/4 mile at times with huge flakes. Several vehicles spun off the interstates as a result of the snow packed highways. Over an inch of snow was measured in nearby Goreville in less than 20 minutes. Totals ranged from 1-3 inches of snow and sleet combined.
