Sub Zero Temps At Tomb Of The Unknown Soldier – 1/5/2018

As the powerful winter storm tracked up the eastern coastline, it dumped widespread snowfall throughout the east coast states including through the nations Capitol. With single digit air temp and sub zero wind chills in the Washington DC area this morning, it made for an extremely cold conditions at Arlington National Cemetery. The sub zero conditions had little effect on the sentinels at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, which is guarded 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, and in any weather by Tomb Guard sentinels who are all volunteers, are considered to be the best of the elite 3rd U.S. Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard), headquartered at Fort Myer, Va. The Guards were guarding the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at the National Cemetery with snow on the ground and 16 degree temperature.
