Smoke (PM) and Fog (AM): Ongoing wildfires across the Pacific Northwest created dense smoke plumes as) viewed here from the Mount Saint Helens region of the Toutle River on Wednesday, August 19. Vivid sunsets and lavender hues persisted well into dusk. Video was recorded in the late afternoon and evening south of, and along Johnson\'s Ridge in southern Washington state. The secondary sequence, recorded on Thursday, August 20; begins with a morning view of Mt. Baker from near Hurricane Ridge within the Olympic National Forest (Port Angeles, Washington). Recorded at dawn, cascades of valley/mountain fog streamed through the valleys as the sun rose; creating refracting light at times before fully illuminating the fog below across Port Angeles. The wildfire smoke remains a persistent air quality issue in the Pacific Northwest.
